Photoshoot.

I have taken 110 photos. The location of all of these photos is a derelict council estate, I feel (like the Skrillex NME cover I analysed) that this location provides the grungy, urban feel that the Riot Grrrl genre thrives on.

The models costume is typically Riot Grrrl. Since the majority of the Riot Grrrl fans I surveyed identified their favourite brand as Doc Martens, I ensured my model was sporting shoes by the infamously punk footwear brand. The leather skater shirt and skulls sweater radiates the Riot Grrrl style, it gives a subtle variation on everyday fashion. The models piercings (especially her septum piercing) exude Riot Grrrl styles and her thick frame glasses are commonplace within the Feminist Punk fashion zeitgeist, reminiscent of Enid from (the graphic novel) Ghost World. The model also has a side of her head shaved; a shaven head is a telltale sign of a female punker.

I like this medium close-up framed to the right. It shows both the model well and the graffiti well.

Although I do like this photo, I am not sure that the model smiling is in keeping with the punk mood of the shoot.

The graffiti in the background of this photo captures the Riot Grrrl mentality; 'f*ck false freedom' completely matches the Feminist Punk Rock ideology.

This shot is sufficiently moody and makes best use of the derelict location we shot at.

The model's non-verbal communication is perfect in this shot for capturing the moodiness of Riot Grrrls; the location is very prominent in this photo.

This photo would be perfect for a double page spread with the text between the model and the '28'. The moodiness of the model is great here, not making eye-contact with the camera.

Again, the model smiling is not appropriate non-verbal communication for the tone I was attempting to set in this photoshoot.

The graffiti, again, connotes an urban setting. I prefer this shot were the model is making eye-contact with the camera, the first photo I took doesn't seem moody enough on the model's part.

The 'No Ball Games' sign is the symbol of childhood oppression; Feminist Rock seeks to challenge oppression. This photo is symbolic.

This photo is great, the remnants of a fire encapsulates the desolation of this estate. It, sadly, is spoiled by the camera flash being reflected in the model's glasses.

This photo would be effective to use as a double page spread, the model is still identifiable in the extreme long-shot but the location is also prominant. The sunset also makes the photo interesting. I would out the text of the article on the righthand-side of the shot.

This photo has a telephone box in the background, this asserts that the model is a British Riot Grrrl.

The model is smiling, therefore this shot doesn't achieve the punk mood I was aiming for.

This photo is effective as it is taken above a body of water, the model is reflected in the water. This could also be used for a double page spread with the text along the righthand-side and the model on the lefthand-side.
